Who has Spring Fever?….show of hands please! If that’s you, well then you must be one of many fashionista’s out there already organizing and pulling out that spring wardrobe as we continue to see snow melting and warmer days on the horizon. As you know fashionable spring and summer-y tops, dresses, and outfits just aren’t complete without those accessories to spice up your look. In the words of Michael Kors “I’ve always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit” So true, Michael, we concur!
So as you are going through and putting together those ootd’s and joyously going through those cute dresses, skirts and open-toed strappy heels, lets make sure you have the RIGHT jewelry pieces to accessories those outfits. Three big trends in jewelry are prevalent and will continue to be this spring/summer season. You will definitely want to keep these types of pieces in mind.
Spring wouldn’t be complete without these pretty pops of color. Floral statement necklaces continue to be hot and colorful stone pendant necklaces always adds a touch of class to dress up a casual outfit. These are the perfect accessories to complement your spring wardrobe with that punch of glam.
Tassels and fringe are still making a statement this spring. These beauties have found their way everywhere over the last year, seen swinging from shoes, dresses, bags, earrings and of course on necklaces. So you just can’t get by without a tassel/fringe necklace or two or several, in your jewelry box ladies.
And it goes without saying, the dainty, delicate, minimal jewelry trend is still going strong. These “barely there” necklaces, bracelets and rings are perfect for layering and stacking to your hearts content, so layer and stack away. They are so versatile, that these pieces are still so pretty worn solo for that classic feminine look, and when several are layered and stacked together, it’s still feminine and dainty, but gives a somewhat different and elevated vibe.
So as we head into warmer days, you won’t want to be without these jewelry essentials. All pieces pictured above can be found in our Urban Diva shop. Aside from these basic staples, what other jewelry must-haves do you have for Spring?

Hello all my lovelies! I hope everyone has a lot of juicy and fun plans this long weekend for Valentine’s Day and then let’s not forget that extra day off (for some of us at least) right after, President’s Day. I am so glad you stopped by to visit our blog with all that you have going on, and this post in particular to read about our newest jewelry collection that we recently launched, the Ethereal Collection. So without further adieu, please read on!
Back in December as I was in the midst of planning for new and fresh inventory for 2016, I wanted to introduce a line of jewelry that really spoke to what signifies the Urban Diva girl and our overall brand. So reaching deep down I sought to embrace all the characteristics that an Urban Diva gal embodied. This brought me a few months back to when I first launched Urban Diva back in the Fall of 2015. I always knew that whatever jewelry I curated for our customers, it had to give the wearer a sense of confidence and an awareness of her self-being and most importantly, how fabulous she is as her own person. Building upon this inspiration, I sat down with pen and paper and jotted down adjectives that came to mind that exemplified these thoughts. As I was jotting, words such as “goddess”, “empowered”, “sophisticated”, and “graceful” among a list of other powerful uplifting words all dotted my notepad. I was on a roll, as I glanced over these amazing descriptors I had written down, they formed the underlying vision of the type of jewelry pieces I envisioned as part of our next Urban Diva collection. I named it our Ethereal Collection – jewelry that was delicate yet bold, sophisticated and refined but with personality, pieces that inspired goodness, grace, and beauty coupled with a fashion forward sense of style – all of which is what I believe speaks to the Urban Diva girl.
Each piece in the Ethereal Collection is an expression of the beautiful words I had jotted down, as seen in the contemporary gold and lustrous look and feel of the pieces, but just like each Urban Diva girl is her own person with her own sense of style, each of the pieces has “her” own personality and look. It only felt right to name them, so out of this, Angelica, Celeste, Trinity and Seraphina were born and now available for purchase in the Urban Diva store
From L to R: Angelica, Trinity, Seraphina, and Celeste.
To bring all of our images to life it was important for the photoshoot to really capture the essence of each of our pieces. Collaborating with Food/Lifestyle Blogger and budding photographer of the blog, The Babbling Brooke, Brooke Reiser and I brainstormed and went over the vision of the photoshoot. The locale had to be contemporary, sophisticated and airy, my stated must-haves, and with that we settled on none other than the Griffith Observatory sitting among LA’s Hollywood Hills. You couldn’t get any point higher or more “ethereal” then there. We did the photoshoot on a cloudy Saturday morning hoping to miss the crowds of tourists that make the trek up to Griffith. With our model and muse, the beautiful Rochelle Johanson, Brooke captured images that evoked a crisp, light and airy feel to showcase our Ethereal Collection jewelry line. As with our other collections, we wanted to show that these pieces are still very versatile and can be worn with casual wear up to a glammed up evening look. See some of the beautiful images that graces our website and social media platforms.
Our Ethereal Collection pieces are here to express your inner self and all things that make us women the beautiful creatures that we are. If you have not yet met Angelica, Celeste, Trinity or Seraphina, then please hop on over to our store to get acquainted. I hope any one or more of these beauties speaks to you and how fabulous you are.
Hello from sunny Los Angeles! In conjunction with the expected sunny 65 degree weather, I am glad to report that we are finally seeing the temperature drop and feel the chill in the air of fall and winter weather. In lieu of the weather change over the last few weeks, and with Christmas Eve upon us, it’s the perfect time to share with you some behind the scenes recap of our photoshoot for the images seen in all our Winter Collection images.
Our Winter Collection photoshoot was set in the posh Beverly Hills neighborhood by the beautiful Beverly Canon Gardens and surrounding city blocks. This shoot would not have been possible without the collaboration of three fabulous women: our amazing makeup artist Denys, our gorgeous model Brooke, and our talented photographer, Stephanie.
After weeks of facilitating and coordinating, the photoshoot finally came to fruition one cloudy Sunday morning in November. Bright and early we met up at the 8:30am scheduled call time at Beverly Canon Gardens. Armed with a box of joe from Starbucks and a tray of breakfast pastries I met up with everyone and we started our day with outfit and jewelry pairing selections and makeup and hair preparation.
The overall theme of the Winter Collection shoot was a “winter chic in the city” feel. Our jewelry styles and selection caters to everyday wear be it for work, a weekend brunch, happy hour, date night, or an evening out partying. So with that mind, the images we had Stephanie capture ranged from casually accessorized looks all the way to blinged out evening statement look, to show the range of our Urban Diva jewelry selection.
Below are some behind the scene shots that I took with my iphone.
Breakfast pastries and coffee to keep us fueled throughout the morning.

I want to thank all these special ladies again, Stephanie, Brooke and Denys for lending your talent and time to make this happen. As we are now in November, I am sure we are all savoring the change in seasons and prepping for the upcoming holiday festivities that we will embark upon, but let’s not forget that it’s also the time of year to reflect back on our accomplishments and failures and to count our blessings. It’s the perfect opportunity to pause and celebrate volunteerism and giving back within our communities because in case you weren’t aware November happens to be Non-Profit Awareness Month. I am a huge supporter of philanthropic endeavors, and want to share my personal experiences working with a wonderful non-profit organization called Dress For Success (DFS) that is near and dear to me and really speaks to the Urban Diva brand.
Dress For Success is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring about change and solutions that enable woman to break the cycle of poverty. DFS empowers woman to obtain better a future for themselves and gain economic independence. The DFS organization offers several programs for the women that walk through its doors that instill confidence, knowledge, and leadership skills to secure employment to further their careers and independence, and provides interview suits and a wardrobe for first week of employment.
Of all the wonderful programs available, I have had the privilege to be involved with the Suiting Program where I volunteer my time to work with these women to ensure that they are dressed appropriately for their interviews and walk into their new jobs with fabulous work appropriate attire. For the past eight months I have had the pleasure of dressing the clientele at the local Los Angeles Dress For Success organization. Let me say that nothing is more satisfying then seeing the big smiles on their faces as they walk out the doors with their new attire. The process itself is rewarding in that not only do I get to talk to and hear the stories of the clients I dress, but to see really see them transform before me as I put the finishing touches to their outfits.
Dress For Success relies completely on the generosity of donations to stock its boutique, accepting gently used women’s suits and work attire, shoes, purses, and jewelry. All the items used to dress each client is 100% donated by every day people, like you and me, who donate clothes and accessories that they no longer need, to a good cause.
I think it’s so fitting that Non-profit Awareness Month coincides with the biggest November holiday, Thanksgiving. So among the turkey dinners, pumpkin pies, football games, and celebrations with family and friends, I encourage everyone to also get involved with your community to support your local charities. If you happen to be cleaning out your closets and no longer need an old suit, last season’s outfits, shoes, and accessories, I hope you consider donating to your local Dress For Success, as these items in every size are always in need. As Maya Angelou once said “try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
Lastly, in light of Non-Profit Awareness Month, Urban Diva will donate part of the proceeds collected from sales throughout November to Dress For Success. I hope you join me in supporting Dress For Success, whether it be doing some holiday shopping in my shop for a good cause, donating your time, or your gently used work attire, shoes and jewelry to your local Dress For Success chapter. For more information about Dress For Success please visit their website, and help empower a woman to succeed!

What is FABDILab you say? Hosted by FAB Council, the Digitial Influencer Lab (FABDILab for short) was a FAB-ulous one day event held in Santa Monica where bloggers, influencers, and brands came together to learn, network and connect with one another.
The day was packed with a line-up of speakers and panels from the industry where they shared their experiences, imparted their knowledge, and most of all inspired others who are just starting out whether it be an up-and-coming blogger/vlogger or a newly launched brand (like Urban Diva!)
Attendees were a mix of both established and new bloggers and Youtubers, PR and digital marketing firms were well represented, and a mix of various brands ranging from fashion, skin care, and bath and beauty products to natural foods and drinks. Being that I am new to this entire space it was not only really helpful hearing the advice given from various speakers throughout the day, but also refreshing to meet and connect with other people to hear their experiences thus far in their journey and to help and support each other.
At the end of the day, during the closing party, Urban Diva set up our very first vendor booth (or I like to think of it as our first pop-up store) to showcase and offer our pieces for sale. I also unveiled pieces from our holiday inventory that is not even on the website yet for sale (but will be soon on November 1st).
I held a drawing for a necklace giveaway for event attendees both to draw folks to my table and to showcase one of our 2015 holiday collection pieces. The winner of the drawing was local Los Angeles fashion blogger Andrea, also known as the PhDFashionista. She will be the first to own our Dreamcatcher Tassel necklace. We can’t wait for her to feature it with one of her outfits on her blog, she is going to rock it.
FABDILab was a such a great experience overall for Urban Diva. Thank you FABCouncil for putting on such a FAB-ulous event.
